A MAN has been arrested in connection with a recent spate of robberies involving unlocked vehicles in Prestatyn.

Following recent repeated appeals for caution and information, residents have aided police in the arrest on Saturday, January 25 with CCTV footage.

The Journal reported earlier this month of the launch of a dedicated policing operation to tackle the issue.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "In the early hours of Saturday morning, police officers arrested a male in the Prestatyn area on suspicion of theft from vehicles.

"It’s believed that this male has been responsible for numerous thefts from unsecured vehicles over the past month.

"We want to thank members of the public and residents who have assisted policing team with CCTV footage.

"We are still urging owners to ensure their vehicles and homes are locked and secure and that any valuable items are removed from vehicles to reduce the temptation for thieves."

Anyone with any information relating to further incidents of car crime in the town is urged to contact police on 101 or the control room directly via north-wales.police.uk/contact/live-chat-support. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111
