RHUG ESTATE has announced that the handcrafted milk chocolate Bison, made for a Channel 5 programme, will be donated to staff at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

The statue, worth £1,000, was won by Nicola Mulligan, a physiotherapist working on the paediatric ward at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Her name was drawn in the Farm Shop based near Corwen's raffle to win the chocolate lover’s dream prize.

Speaking after being drawn, Nicola said: “I’m so pleased to have won the raffle. I have decided to share it amongst my hard working colleagues at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. I can’t wait to taste the amazing piece of art.”

Conwy chocolatiers Baravelli’s created the bespoke chocolate Bison on behalf of Rhug. The creation process will be featured in episode six of Channel 5 series ‘The Wonderful World of Chocolate’ to be shown on February 9.

Baravelli’s created the Bison statue to celebrate Rhug Estate owner Lord Newborough’s 70th birthday. Channel 5 then filmed the chocolatiers creating the masterpiece and filmed Lord Newborough receiving it.

When he received the chocolate masterpiece, Lord Newborough said he wanted to raffle the work of edible art so local charities could receive donations.

As a result, more than £600 has been raised and will be divided between Wales Air Ambulance and Hope House Children’s hospice.
