HOLYWELL TOWN boss John Haseldin wants his side to “stay focused” as Queen’s Park head to Halkyn Road in the “last chance saloon”, writes PHIL JONES.

The two teams are locked on 35 points, three shy of Premier Division leaders Rhostyllen, but the Wellmen have played three games fewer than visiting Park.

Holywell boss Haseldin is warning against complacency as his side come up against one of the division’s standard bearers.

“Queen’s Park have been the benchmark for this division over the years and I have a lot of respect for what they have achieved,” said Haseldin, who saw his side win 4-0 at Llay last weekend with Jake Cooke scoring all four.

“From our point of view it’s important we stay focused on the next game and keep finding ways to get results.

“We are playing well and confidence is high at the moment. However, there is a lot of football to be played and we are pushing our players in training and in games to keep improving every week.

“The support has been fantastic for us this season, and we hope to get a big crowd down to Halkyn Road to help push the lads on as they can really make the difference in tight games.”

Park head to Flintshire on the back of a 3-0 success over Saltney with boss Dave Evans saying: “We see the game somewhat as being the last chance saloon.

“Our hosts have three games in hand on all the title hopefuls and a win against us will chalk off another rival, but we go into the game full of confidence and on the back of two good wins.

“Holywell have got an excellent set up and their manager has got them performing well. We expect there to be a great crowd and these are the fixtures that keep us involved in the game. “

Evans, who has managed to fend off interest in his players this month, has Curtis Neary and James Gregory available.

Leaders Rhostyllen can take advantage of any slip up by the chasing pack by securing a home victory over Llay Welfare.

Club spokesman Darren Hignett said: “We gained three valuable points last week at Plas Madoc with a makeshift starting 11, so manager Warren Duckett might just put faith in the same team.”

Drew Wickens and Olly Allman are doubts for Rhostyllen, who hope to welcome back Kevin Roberts and Ashley Ryan.

Llay boss Mike Gadie is buoyed by the return of Ryan Goodband and Jared Taylor, adding: “My priority is to pick the lads up after a bad defeat against Holywell.”

Penycae boss Ben Heath is “excited” to see what his side can do ahead of their trip to struggling Castell Alun.

Central defender Adam Stenning has received international clearance to join fellow new recruits Lloyd Elms, Dalton Halal and Levi Mackin in the squad, with Heath saying: “We are at last starting to slowly gel and looked good last week even though we didn’t score as many as we wanted but the clean sheet was brilliant.

“I am so excited to get these lads playing in a way we want in order to challenge next season.”

The Colts are strengthened by the return of Sam Ellis, Nathan Davies and Rob Ward, but Connor Hodson is unavailable.

Chirk AAA chief Mark Holmes will add Callum Taylor to a young squad for the home clash with Mold, who are without Dan Lloyd, Adam Renshaw and Ben Howarth.

Henry Carver is a doubt, but Louie Middlehurst, Steve Watkins and Jack Edwards should all return with Mold boss Mike Cunningham saying: “Confidence is high, but Chirk is always a difficult place to go and Saturday will be no different as they are scrapping for every point.”

Plas Madoc could have Nathan Edwards, Ramone Nelson, Nathan Jones and Max Smith available for their home clash with Rhos Aelwyd, who welcome back Ian Hughes, while Brymbo anticipate being at full tilt for the visit of Llanuwchllyn, who are without Sam Evans and Delwyn Jones.

Saltney, eager to make amends for their defeat to Queen’s Park, host Brickfield without Rabeh Jumaa and Tom Bailey.

Division One leaders Hawarden Rangers start a challenging month at home to Johnstown without Tom Williams, Danny Beach, Jamie Brailsford, Alistair Taylor and Johnny Platten.

The visitors also have a spate of absentees with Chris Davis, Matt Ferrie, Nathan Evans, Reece Davies and Josh Hughes all missing.

Coedpoeth have Andy Pryde, Kev Breeze and Jardel Junior back for the visit of Halkyn and Flint Mountain, who have doubts over captain Jake Williams.

Llangollen entertain Lex XI, who have Phil Stott, Rob Gibson and James Gibney available.

Overton take on New Brighton Villa and manager Dave Edwards said: “After two games in charge the players are up for the fight and are responding to the task ahead.”

Edwards is without Sam Jones, while Villa are missing James Beck and Jack Heppleston, but Jack Leonard-Gill, Lewis Jones, Adam Funnell and Chris Lucas return.
