SOLDIERS have contacted Dee Valley youngsters for goodie boxes they have received while overseas.

One of Corwen Day Nursery’s chosen charities is Support our Soldiers and the nursery writes and sends goodie boxes to troops on deployment as an act of kindness throughout the year.

The parcels are a valuable contribution in boosting and maintaining morale amongst those on overseas duties and are much appreciated by members of the Armed Forces.

Staff and children of Corwen Day Nursery were delighted to receive personal letters of thanks from some of the soldiers who received their goody boxes.

A letter has been received from Poland, while soldiers from Somalia posted a picture of themselves with the goody boxes on Instagram.

Another letter was received from a soldier serving in Iraq, which was written on Christmas Day!

Corwen Day Nursery owner Carmen Roberts Davenport said: “It is lovely to receive these letters of thanks and it is great to learn that these goodie boxes really do make a difference to the morale within the armed forces especially over the Christmas period.

“A wife of one of the soldiers serving in Somalia rang the nursery to thank us because her husband had contacted her and said he was overwhelmed by our generosity and we had really lifted his spirits.”

Last year, the nursery sent just under 50 goodie boxes, 25 of which were sent at Christmas.
