The launch of the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal has been supported by the Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire, Russell George.

Mr George joined Marie Curie’s North and Mid Wales Fundraisers of the Year, Mark and Kathleen Harvey, from Welshpool, at the Senedd for the launch of the Great Daffodil Appeal which is Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraising campaign.

Mr and Mrs Harvey have been instrumental in the success of the local fundraising group in Welshpool.

They first came to support Marie Curie in 2017, holding a Blooming Great Tea Party at their home.

Following the event, they took on the roles of Collection Box Coordinators for the area, looking after over 100 collection tins and daffodil boxes.

This soon progressed to them taking on two more volunteer roles; Fundraising Group Treasurer, and Collections Host meaning they are now involved with every aspect of the fundraising groups activities.

Mr George is also encouraging people in Montgomeryshire to help the charity raise more money than ever before by simply giving a donation and wearing a Marie Curie daffodil pin.
