A NEWLY opened DIY store in the Vale of Clwyd has employed 11 staff.

Screwfix, which offers a range of trade products including power tools, workwear, cables and pipe fittings, opened on Station Road on Thursday, February 13.

The store is owned by international homeware company Kingfisher plc, which also operates B&Q.

It joins other DIY stores in Denbigh including Townsend Supplies and Bevans Home & Garden.

Charities in Denbigh and surrounding areas have been encouraged to apply for funding from the Screwfix Foundation, which helps charities and community projects to fix, repair or maintain facilities.

Screwfix Denbigh store manager, Jorden Williams, said: “We chose to open a new store in Denbigh to better meet the needs of the local tradespeople. Many of our new customers previously shopped with Screwfix at our Rhyl and Flint stores, so we’re delighted to bring Screwfix even closer to them for greater convenience.

“Our celebration weekend, which ran from Thursday until Sunday, attracted hundreds of customers. We have received fantastic support from local homes and from the local community and are looking forward to supporting more busy tradespeople and serious DIYers in Denbigh.”

The store is open from Monday to Friday 7am-8pm, Saturday 7am-6pm and Sunday 9am-4pm.
