A TOWN council is seeking a new councillor.

Ruthin Town Council has given notice of a vacancy after Emrys Wynne, who is county councillor for Ruthin, stepped down from the role.

The town council intends to appoint a new councillor via co-option. The process takes place when a councillor resigns and will be carried out by the town council without poll.

Expressions of interest need to be submitted by Tuesday, March 10.

Applicants must be a British, Commonwealth, Irish or European Union citizen, and aged 18 years and above.

They must also meet one of the following criteria: registered as a local government elector for Ruthin; has occupied, as owner or tenant, land within 4.8 kilometres of Ruthin for the last 12 months; or has had principal place of work in the town during the last 12 months.
