POLICE have appealed for members of the public to help identify people selling fish from the back of a van.

North Wales Police said the sellers were using a white Ford van in the Denbigh area, however they may not be registered.

The force said it is working with Denbighshire County Council Trading Standards to ensure no trading offences are being committed, which could include labelling and quality of the fish.

A police spokesperson said: “Between February 17 and 21 a white Ford Transit Connect was reported in the Llanrhaeadr, Prion and Denbigh areas offering fish for sale.

“At this moment in time we are unable to confirm whether the sellers are registered as a food business operator (a legal requirement). If not, there are likely to be issues with the labelling, quality and descriptions of the fish.

“If you see a similar vehicle in these circumstances or are offered fish from the back of a vehicle, please let us know.”
