LLANSANNAN FC manager Tom Lewis is set to embark on a gruelling marathon challenge to raise funds for the club.

The boss, who took over at the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division side in the summer, plans to run from Llansannan’s Llan Siro ground to the top of Snowdon on Saturday, May 30.

All money raised will go towards the club’s costs to get facilities up to Football Association of Wales criteria next season.

More than £400 has been raised from Lewis’ £2,000 target thanks to a flood of early donations.

Lewis was part of the playing squad at Llansannan before taking over from Gari Lewis during pre-season, and he has enjoyed a hugely successful few months in the role.

Llansannan remain in the title hunt with games in hand on current pacesetters Rhuddlan Town and also have their sights set on cup glory during their business end of the campaign.

The incoming FAW regulations are set to completely transform the North Wales football structure, with as many as 14 Lock Stock Welsh Alliance sides committed to withdrawing from their respective divisions and fall under the North Wales Coast Football Association’s jurisdiction.

A number of clubs have also started petitions to get the necessary help needed to make their playing areas up to standard in the coming months or risk expulsion from competitive fixtures altogether.

Lewis has already begun training hard in readiness for the 26.2-mile run, which is sure to test his physical and mental strength considerably.
