YOUNG Bala sportspeople are certainly the best in the region!

A squad from Ysgol Godre'r Berwyn, in Bala, travelled to Deeside recently to compete against other counties in the North Wales Sportshall competition.

The school had one girls' team and one boys' team for the event.

Because there are less than 200 children in Ysgol Godre'r Berwyn's primary department, the competitors were taking part in the small schools category.

With the two teams combined, the squad amazingly came first in no fewer than 17 activities.

Ysgol Godre'r Berwyn managed to beat 24 other competitors to be crowned as the North Wales champions.

Huge congratulations deservedly go to the young athletes for their fantastic performances and outstanding success.

Interestingly, if the squad had competed in the big schools section, they would have come second to Ysgol Bryncoch, which has 600 primary pupils.
