CAN you believe it’s March already and we are almost at the halfway stage of the Championship Conference?!

This weekend’s trip down to Barry Town United will signify the halfway mark of the second half of the season and it means we only have five games remaining of the 2019/20 season.

Since the split at the start of February we have gained eight points out of a possible 12, meaning Town are currently third in the table, only three points behind second placed The New Saints and seven ahead of Saturday’s opponents Barry.

Bala captain Chris Venables is currently the league’s top goalscorer with 22 goals to his name and has a massive opportunity to seal the Golden Boot award come the end of the season.

European football is still a huge possibility so please come and show your support over the next couple of weeks!

With the Wales C squad due to be announced this week, we will be hopeful that a couple of the Bala squad will be called up for international duty later this month.

In the Academy, goalkeeper Dan Goldston has been out in Rome representing Wales Schools FA and has earned himself a call-up to Wales’ Centenary Shield squad who will face Northern Ireland in Belfast on March 11.

There is more Wales representation as Harri Roberts played for North Wales U-17 team, as well as Mared Griffiths who played for North Wales U-15s and has now been chosen to go for the final set of trials for the Wales U-15s' side.

Our Annual Academy Tournament for grassroots junior clubs from U-8s to U-11s has been announced and it will take place on May 30 and 31 at Maes Tegid.

Entry is £25 if you are registered by the end of March and spaces are already being snapped up.

Please email community@balatownfc.co.uk to register your teams.

The reserves are mid-table in the Wrexham Area Reserves / Colts Division, but have been frustrated by weather postponements and also lack of referees, meaning games have been cancelled.

They narrowly lost 1-0 against Borras Park Albion last week in the Horace Wynne Cup quarter-finals, but it has been an encouraging first season for our reserves team.

They host Coedpoeth United at Maes Tegid on Friday night so if you are at a loose end, why not pop down to support!

Due to the weather, the Maes Tegid 3G has been fully booked with league games, friendlies and also an FAW Trophy semi-final tie, which took place there last Saturday.

Why not take advantage and hire the pitch for as little as £25?

Contact Gill Evans via community@balatownfc.co.uk to book.

On Mondays, it is our community evening at the club with O-35s' football, goalkeeping sessions and our five-a-side league taking place.

There is something for everyone so please come down to join us.
