ROBIN Hood, Snow White and Frankenstein were just some of the characters to be found in classrooms across Denbighshire on World Book Day.

Primary school pupils in Denbigh, Ruthin, St Asaph and Llangollen celebrated the day of all things literature on Thursday, March 5 by dressing up as their favourite characters and bringing their favourite books to share with classmates.

Myddelton College, Denbigh, had its year six students read an age appropriate version of Frankenstein and pupils donated books to the school library.

Meanwhile at St Asaph VP Infants School, pupils rewrote their favourite books with new characters, shared made bookmarks and brought preloved books to swap with other pupils.

Andrew Allman, Myddelton College headteacher, said World Book Day “helps make learning fun”.

“Some students have gone to great lengths to get their costumes exactly right,” he said.

“Today is an opportunity for our students to share their favourite books and characters.”

Myddelton College student Isabella Stone, aged 12, from Ruthin, said: “Reading can take you to different places, especially books with no pictures. I can read a chapter and imagine it differently to my friend.”
