EGG trays and pinecones were gathered to make bug hotels and bat boxes at a village park near Denbigh.
The Llanferres Playing Field & Recreation Association (LPFRA) organised the Bug Hotel, Bird & Bat Box Making Event in a bid to improve habitat for wildlife at Llanferres Park.
The workshop on Saturday, March 7 saw families take part with each child given a box to take home to put in their own garden.
They used corrugated carboard, egg trays, leaves, sticks, timber, apples and pinecones.
They included donations from Travis Perkins in Denbigh, Co-op and Tesco in Ruthin, and P&A Pallets in Mold.
LPFRA was awarded its 15th consecutive Green Flag Community Award last summer for the volunteer-led conservation work carried out at Llanferres Park.
Steve Williams, Denbighshire Countryside Services ranger who led the workshop, said: “Taking home the Bug Hotels each child had built was a no brainer as it should encourage them to take an interest what’s going on in their own garden.
