FITNESS fanatics and training instructors are taking to social media to keep residents in Denbighshire and Conwy healthy.

Gyms and fitness professionals have set up online workout sessions in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Peak Physique is among those focusing on fitness.

Lyndsey Tierney and her daughters Abigail Tierney, 10, and Hetty Tierney, aged six, have been taking part in evening classes.

Lyndsey, a teaching assistant at Ysgol y Castell in Rhuddlan, said: "Peak Physique in Prestatyn have kept us focused on fitness even whilst we stay indoors. Classes have been delivered to members and their children at different times of the day which have encouraged us to stay motivated even though we are isolating.

"The classes have been a nice bit of normality for us and the ones in the day are fun for our children to be involved in and gets them moving.

"The bootcamp instructors are also trying to look after our mental health too by checking up with members via our WhatsApp group to see how everyone is getting on and offering to chat to members if they feel they need a bit of extra support."

Ryan Grindrod, who was in the army for seven years, runs military themed bootcamps.

Ryan, of Rhyl who runs Private Ryan's Ltd, is uploading a daily bootcamp style workout for children.

He said: "In the army I picked up a number of skills along the way such as teamwork, leadership, resilience and confidence which I now pass onto students across the nation.

"My current objective during this awful time is to keep children engaged so I have been uploading a free fitness bootcamp on my Facebook page @PteRyans for children to copy.

"I have also offered to reward the students with certificates and medals if they send me their video workouts."

Thomas Williams, known as Tom, has been running live exercise classes on Instagram @summitfitnesssolutions

Tom runs the classes with his partner Amy and dog Ralph also gets in on the workout.

Tom, of Prestatyn, said: "Amy is a primary school year six teacher in Ysgol Sant Elfod in Abergele. We are currently in ‘lockdown’ in Abergele ourselves.

"We have just started doing the classes and people are asking for more and at different times.

"All you need is a set of dumbbells, a mat or towel and yourself."

Katie Jones, who owns Live Life Light in Rhyl with her husband, is a personal trainer and a body transformation specialist.

She is doing PE sessions for children with her son Teddy Jones, which adults can also get involved in.

Katie said: "They have been going down very well and the response from the public has been amazing. The live videos are getting on average well over 2,500 views each.

"Not only are children and parents getting involved, but I have also had local nurseries contact me with feedback that the children there are getting involved and enjoying the workouts and also the residents at Bradshaw Manor are watching everyday and they are enjoying watching myself and my son, whilst doing what they can to keep involved."

Elaine Pritchard is running virtual classes and is asking residents who take part to donate to the North Wales Cancer Appeal.

Elaine, 57, said: "My classes cover the very fit, the fit and now those new to exercise - people over 12 are welcome to join in.

"I still do High-intensity interval training (HIIT) with the clients and became a personal trainer at 51."
