A LOCAL delivery service has helped families through the ‘most worrying times’ of their lives.

As the coronavirus lockdown continues, it is becoming increasingly harder to get a supermarket delivery – with some people having to wait weeks in advance.

As a result, a local business entrepreneur, who usually sells products at supermarkets, has decided to create a delivery service for those who are struggling.

Ben Nuttall, of TN Events Ltd said he set this up after the festival season was cancelled and he had the extra stock.

He told the Leader: “We had this stuff in anyway so we though we would open it up to the community to make sure people got what they need.

“People are struggling to get online deliveries from supermarkets. We knew people in the hospitality industry so we thought we could get the products and just keep servicing the people.

“We are looking at up to 14 months without work due to the cancellation of the festival season so this helps to keep us going.”

The TN Events Ltd Facebook page has over 1,000 members.

Those wishing to attend the warehouse can do so but they are not allowed to touch anything and must keep their 2m distance.

Ben added: “Those we deliver to are so grateful. Everything is contactless though people can come and see what we have physically.

“There’s a three-week wait in supermarkets and people are really struggling out there, we’ve delivered to people who are pregnant and those will illnesses such as cancer, it really is not worth the risk them going outside.

“It’s a lot less risk my age to go outside so we thought we would do something to help the community and keep us active.

“We will continue to do what we can while we can and we have teamed up with Nanny Biscuit and CREW.”

The team delivers to the likes of Connah’s Quay, Shotton, Queensferry, Holywell and Flint – as far as they can go, dedication one day per area.

Sue Oliver said she was saved by this team after weeks of worry and stress.

She said: “As a vulnerable adult who is isolating with my wife and son, this has been one of the most worrying times of our lives.

“I've had several serious health scares, including many relapses due to having Multiple Sclerosis and also overcoming womb cancer last year.

“We have been forced to temporarily close our social enterprise which has been very stressful and an additional worry.

“For two weeks we had been trying to access large supermarket websites to make an online food shop. Some websites let us do this, however, every major supermarket was unable to offer a delivery or click and collect date.

“As our food stocks became low this caused even more stress. As my relapses have been brought on by stress, this became a huge concern for my health and wellbeing.

“Then I read online that a local business entrepreneur had adapted his festival supermarket stalls to a food delivery service. It felt almost too good to be true, but after a quick telephone call I was reassured that the fresh fruit and vegetables would be delivered the next day. Adhering to my request for a 2m distance to be kept at all times.

“To my delight the next day as promised, a box of fresh delicious food was delivered to my front path. The driver cleaned the contactless terminal and left it on the path while he retreated for me to swipe my card. I have made several more purchases of deliveries as have many of my local friends.

“ A massive thank you goes out to everyone at TN Events Ltd, you really are helping to keep the community fed.”
