A FITNESS TRAINER from Llannefydd is offering some useful tips on how to beat the self-isolation blues over the coming months.

Noelle Watson first began her journey into the industry by taking part in an aerobics class in 1991 - after the birth of her second daughter.

By now, she is a personal trainer, motivational coach and weight loss expert who has received many positive reviews for the classes she teaches.

During the coronavirus lockdown, Noelle is offering her top tips on how to keep yourself occupied and feeling fit and healthy.

First up - she says people should "be more Zen".

Noelle says: "Now is a weird time for all of us. Its stressful for most, and downright catastrophic for some. Almost everything we took for granted has changed. Now, more than ever, it’s good to add habits to our day which make us mentally stronger.

"In my mind, anything that makes me more able to deal with this lock down is worth trying. Becoming more “mindful” enables me to appreciate more of what I do have … rather than worrying about all the things which I no longer have (like income or loo roll).

"We say we’re too busy for all this woowoo stuff. But the thing is, we don’t have to make time for this amazing technique. We can simply integrate it into our day. Yeah sure, its easy to be cynical. But I suggest try it and feel the emergence of a brand new fresh perspective.

Noelle says that Mindfulness is quite simply described as "living in the present" and "allowing yourself to enjoy that small moment before it passes".

It means being more in tune with your senses – sight, sound, touch, taste and smell.

Noelle added: "When we are stressed and anxious, becoming a little more mindful will help us stay calmer and happier. And that in turn enables us to be more help to others who might need us.

It allows us to accept and overcome what is unfolding around us without a huge emotional response. It also helps us reduce blood pressure – and remain more resilient both physically and emotionally."

Here’s how you can help yourself; Keep it regular - pick a time for the morning wash routine, the walk in the fresh air, time with the dog – decide to be aware of the sensations created from this.

You can also try something new, such as sitting in a different chair for lunch or a new form of technology to contact your family can help.
