A DENBIGHSHIRE farmer experienced a 'one in a million' phenomenon earlier this month when his Welsh Mountain Ewe gave birth to five lambs one after the other.

A picture of the quintuplets along with their mother (above) was posted to Facebook by Ioan Morris of Nantlgyn.

Ewes usually give birth to no more than three lambs in one go and the birth of five at once is said to happen "once in a generation".

In the post, Mr Morris wrote: "Quintuplets arrived here this week from a Welsh Mountain ewe. One in a million chance!"

Several people commented on the post in admiration of the very rare occurrence which saw all lambs and the mother remain healthy.

One user wrote: "Amazing. Well done to the mother.", whilst another joked that "there must be another four Ewes in the shed who are missing their lambs!"
