Llanidloes Primary School pupils have chosen a new name for a female Osprey that lives at Hafren Forest.
From a list of 12 names, school children voted overwhelmingly in favour of ‘Seren’ which is Welsh for star.
The new name for the eight-year-old Osprey, that has been known as ‘5F’, was revealed by the Clywedog Osprey Group during a Facebook Live video on Monday evening (May 4).
A hundred pupils “enthusiastically” took part and voted on Welsh names selected by each teacher.
Lisa Stead, Year 3 and 4 teacher, said: “John Williams who leads the Clywedog Osprey Group is also a parent at Llanidloes Primary School.
"He invited us to enjoy the live webcam on the nest site as part of home-school learning.
"Year 3 and 4 teachers spotted the children’s enthusiasm and the Osprey nest became a project in its own right.
“Following their enthusiasm John invited pupils to vote on the name for the female nesting on the Clywedog site this season.”
