NORTH Wales' police chief has thanked the vast majority of people in North Wales who followed lockdown and travel restrictions over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Chief Constable Carl Foulkes said people in North Wales were making a real difference to keep people save during the coronavirus pandemic and protect services like the NHS.
He said: "I want to say a personal thank you that still after so many weeks the vast of people across north Wales continued to follow the lockdown regulations over this bank holiday weekend.
"You are making a real difference. Diolch yn fawr."
Although there were a few incidents over the weekend in North Wales where police officers had to stop people who had travelled into the region by road or train, on the whole people continued to follow the advice to stay at home.
In England, where lockdown rules have eased, there were crowds at some beaches and parks.
In Wales, the existing fines structure for breaking travel restrictions, which imposed a £60 fine for a first offence rising to £120 for a second and subsequent offences, has been replaced by a new structure in which the fines double for every offence – rising from £60 to £120 to £1,920 for the sixth offence.
