POLICE officers continue to patrol hotspot areas as people still appear to flout lockdown rules.

Concerns were raised over a large gathering in a Wrexham park on Sunday evening with people from multiple households meeting up to play a game of football.

Local residents expressed their concerns that people are not adhering to the regulations and are still meeting up with friends, particularly on the 'Dunks Field'.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said this was 'absolutely shocking behaviour' and there have been constant reports made about youths riding quadbikes in the area.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “Wrexham Town Police officers continue to patrol and monitor social distancing in key hotspot areas. Despite the recent changes, we still ask our communities to stay safe, adhere to social distancing and travel only when necessary according to the regulations.”

The Leader has previously reported that over the weekend 500 cars were stopped in Flintshire and advice given to those who are not local to the area.

This resulted in a couple from Birmingham who were told to return home due to non-essential travel.

British Transport Police officers also were monitoring the train lines on Tuesday morning which resulted in three people being told to return home for non-essential journeys.
