A YOUNG BOY from a Denbighshire town has raised around £650 to support NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

Seven-year-old Leighton James Roberts from Corwen joined mum Kirsty on a sponsored walk over the weekend.

They made their way from the back roads of Clawdd Poncen towards Carrog and up to the A5, then back along the main road to Corwen and back home.

The pair's efforts saw them raise around £650 and draw plenty of praise and congratulations from the 'Corwen Issues Group' on Facebook.

Corwen Museum have also said they would like to feature their achievements in a book they keep there in the near future.

Taking to social media after she and Leighton returned home from their sponsored walk on Sunday, Kirsty said: "I'm super proud of Leighton wanting to raise money for the NHS in this current situation, he smashed it.

"We're just waiting on a few more payments and then we can send the donation off. Leighton wants to say thanks to everyone who has donated."
