AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a pensioner who died after contracting suspected Covid-19 while in hospital.
Josephine Barritt, 92, of the Penrho Estate in Mostyn, died on May 16 at Glan Clwyd hospital.
Opening an inquest into her death at county hall in Ruthin, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales east and central, said Mrs Barritt had been admitted to hospital on April 16 following a fall at home whereby she suffered a fractured femur.
While being treated in hospital, Mrs Barritt subsequently developed Covid-19 symptoms and died on May 16.
Due to the cause of her hospitalisation being a fall, Mr Gittins has called for a full inquest into her death.
The full inquest will take place at a date yet to be fixed.
