A VIRTUAL GALA to be held this weekend could help boost Bala Lake Railway's (BLR) Covid-19 fundraiser even further.

The Railway's appeal, aimed at helping it survive the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic, has so far raised more than £11,000.

This Saturday, the BLR will be hosting a virtual gala throughout the day, which will be packed full of video footage with a planned timetable of over 20 departures (videos) scheduled throughout the day including; a run down and back up the line, recent galas, archive video footage and photographs.

A V'irtual Gala Guide' including the full timetable for the day is now on sale for £5 via the brand-new online shop, which will also be open on Gala Day selling souvenirs and other goods.

Guests will also be able to support the railway by taking a virtual ‘Driver for a fiver’ ride or visit the café to buy a virtual ‘Drivers slice of cake’ as well as other virtual goodies.

In addition, there will be a photographic competition held on the day (sponsored by the Bala Lake Railway Society) with eight prizes on offer.

All funds raised on the day will be used to support the railway through the current Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson for the BLR said: "Our Covid-19 Appeal total has just passed the £11,000 mark - A huge thank you is due to everyone who has supported us so far...

"Visiting our Virtual Gala next weekend is a great way to continue to support us."
