THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded two additional deaths of patients testing positive for coronavirus in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
NHS England data released this afternoon (July 2) shows that, as of 5pm yesterday, the total number of deaths registered by the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – rose to 212.
That means the Countess has now recorded the highest number of deaths out of the four Cheshire hospital trusts.
The data shows that the deaths sadly occurred on June 27 and June 30.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 695 with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust registering 210, East Cheshire NHS Trust 140, and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 133.
As of 4pm yesterday, Cheshire West and Chester has had 1,250 confirmed cases of coronavirus – a rise of five in 24 hours.
Across England, further 35 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 28,794.
Patients were aged between 54 and 92 years-old. Two patients, aged 54 and 84, had no known underlying health conditions.
Today, 15 deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
