A CASUAL Vacancy has arisen on Rhuddlan Town Council.

This follows the resignation of councillor Gareth Smith, deputy mayor.

An election will be held to fill the vacancy if a written request is made by 10 local government electors of the community to the returning officer Judith Greenhalgh, The Returning Officer, Room 235, County Hall, Ruthin, LL15 1YN, by July 8 2020.

If no request is received, the town council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

Sian Mai Jones, clerk at Rhuddlan Town Council, said: "As a councillor representing your community you will help keep it a great place to live and work. You will be supported in your role and you will have opportunities to attend training courses. You should have a positive outlook and a can-do attitude and be willing to work as part of a team."

Cllr Smith has been a town councillor since the age of 19. He was elected in 2017.

In accordance the Local Government (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections) (Wales) Regulations 2020, should an election be called it will be scheduled after February 1 2021.
