A WREXHAM-based construction firm, in conjunction with a Llangollen Hotel, have raised almost £2,000 for Nightingale House Hospice by holding a jumble sale at the beginning of March.

Knights Construction Group, who are renovating the iconic Royal Hotel in Llangollen, held a two-day public sale at the historic venue with all furniture items throughout the hotel being made available for locals to buy.

All £1,951.01 of the proceeds raised were donated to Nightingale House Hospice.

The sale proved to be popular over the two days with items sold including beds, wardrobes, chairs, sofas, bar stools, crockery, kitchen equipment and outdoor furniture amongst others with the hotel now closed for a full building renovation.

Knights’ construction manager, Gwyn Davies said he was delighted at the response to the sale and was very happy to finally be able to hand over the cheque to Nightingale House.

He said: “We have of course been planning ahead for the renovation of the Royal Hotel, and there was that much furniture and equipment left in the building that we thought it would be worth putting it all to good use.

“So, we talked about it and decided that Nightingale House, a great local hospice in Wrexham would be a very worthy cause to raise funds for. On behalf of Knights and the Royal Hotel, we are delighted that we could help in some small way.”

Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire and East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.
