A SCHOOL in Oswestry has raised more than £2,500 for a Shropshire-based charity at a socially-distanced sponsored walk event.
Pupils, teachers, parents and friends of Oswestry School took part in the event to raise money for Severn Hospice.
Sponsorship money helped to raise £2,539 for the hospice which offers specialist care and support for people across the county.
Under normal circumstances, pupils at the school take part in the event each year, but the event had to adapt this year due to the impact of Covid-19.
It was held in accordance with lockdown restrictions, and participants were asked to take part as and when they could.
As part of a separate challenge, participants were asked to tally up the distance they had walked and send it in to the school.
This allowed the school to combine the distances and find out the total distance covered by all participants, which was 1,700km.
