THE opportunity to unwind mental knots caused by the Coronavirus is on offer this September.

Despite in person classes at The Kalpa Bhadra Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Llandudno being suspended, a five week series Be Kind To Your Mind will be available online from Wednesday, September 2.

The centre has been reaching further afield during lockdown after moving its classes and guided retreats online. This new series focuses on meditation as a tool to develop positive habits of mind, to reduce stress and depression, and to encourage greater presence and healing.

Resident teacher Gen Kelsang Leksang said: "We have been running classes online since lockdown started and they’ve helped a lot of people. Some people have described them as a lifeline.

"What’s occurred to us is that now people from all over North to mid Wales can easily and simply access our meditation classes from the comfort of their own homes.

"Whereas previously many people in North Wales lived too far away to attend our classes, now they are available to everyone from Aberystwyth to Abergele."

Originating from many of the key practices contained within the spiritual teachings of Buddhism, the centre's classes reintegrate compassion, acceptance and and a focus on relinquishing attachment in meditation practices.

While mindfulness practices remain in vogue, they form only part of the picture and are often presented in isolation. The centre aims to introduce people in need of more headspace to the full spectrum of spiritual fulfilment offered by meditation.

From Wednesday 2 there will be two live classes weekly at 11.30am at 7pm, with that week's class being available online to stream for the next seven days.

The five week course is £25, with support available for anyone living in hardship. For more information and to book, visit meditatenorthwales.com.
