A 25-year-old Wrexham man died after taking a suspected synthetic drug, an inquest heard.
Richard Lee Evans, of Johnson Street in Ponciau, died on October 19, 2019 at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
At a brief hearing in Ruthin on Monday opening the inquest, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said Mr Evans had been admitted to hospital after collapsing at home after a suggestion he had taken the synthetic cannabinoid drug known as 'mamba'.
Despite all care and treatment, Mr Evans died in hospital.
A subsequent post mortem determined a provisional cause of death as being synthetic cannabinoid toxicity.
The matter will proceed to a full inquest at a date to be fixed.
