MOLD residents are being invited to contribute to a permanent feature to commemorate the town's community spirit during the covid-19 pandemic.

Throughout Flintshire during the coronavirus lockdown, children and adults have painted and decorated rocks and stones with bright colours and patterns, laying them end to end to resemble a snake.

The snakes have given joy an hope to many and brighten up a daily walk.

Mold has a number of these ‘Covid-Snakes’ and Mold Town Council would like to preserve the painted rocks in order to turn them into a permanent feature.

The town council will collect the rocks which have been place on the public areas on Friday, August 7.

If anyone has any objections to their rock being used in the commemorate feature, they are asked contact the town council or remove prior to August 7.

Jane Evans, Mold Town Council events and community engagement officer, said: “Unfortunately given the many rainy days that we have had over the last couple of months, a large number of the painted rocks have not lasted the duration

"The paint has been washed away or faded and we will not be able to include these rocks.

"We would however welcome new additions to the collection and if anyone would like to submit a newly painted rock, please arrange to drop this off, through the letterbox of the Town Hall on Earl Road Mold and it will be added to the collection.”

The location of the commemorate feature is to be confirmed and will be dependent on the number of rocks that are suitable to use.

Further information on where and when this will take place is to follow.
