A FLINTSHIRE man was found dead in a hot tub following birthday celebrations, an inquest heard.
Michael Edward Jones, 34, died at his home address on Basingwerk Avenue in Greenfield, near Holywell on July 12.
An inquest opening at Denbighshire County Hall in Ruthin on Tuesday (July 28) heard that Mr Jones, a builder by trade, had been celebrating his birthday on July 12 and had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol throughout the evening.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said Mr Jones, who was said to have been in a "happy drunk" state, was later found dead by his mother in a hot tub at their home after he'd returned from walking a friend home.
Police subsequently attended the address and found Mr Jones partly submerged in the water with froth around his mouth.
The death is being treated as non-suspicious and the matter will move to a full inquest at a date to be fixed.
