MOLD'S mayor has spoken of her delight following a huge response to a school uniform recycling appeal.

Cllr Teresa Carberry launched the appeal for Mold school uniforms, along with unused rucksacks, earlier this month.

So far the appeal, which closes on August 12, has seen about 1,000 items of clothing, bags and shoes donated.

Cllr Carberry said: "The clothes are all at my house at the moment and we have two rails and about eight crates of them.

"My dad and I are washing, ironing and sorting them all.

"We are going to have a stall at the Meadows car park behind the Daniel Owen Community Centre on August 19 and 22 after the shielding lockdown is ceased.

"People are welcome to come and take whatever they need.

"There is no charge for the goods, but I will leave a donation box for the Mayor's charities on the table so that if people feel they would like to donate they can do."

Cllr Carberry said she wished to thank the BHF shop in Mold, which allowed her to borrow the large rail and hangers, as well as the public for their support in the recycling scheme.

She added: "It's been amazing, it really has.

"People have really responded well."

A collection box has been placed in the entrance hall of the Daniel Owen Centre for people to drop off items.

The Daniel Owen Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
