MOTORISTS are warned of heavy traffic on the A55/A494 westbound carriageways in Flintshire following a number of incidents on the network as holidaymakers flock to North Wales.
A series of collisions and broken down vehicles has left the A55/A494 and some of Flintshire's main roads heavily congested.
Congestion is as far back as the M56 and J36 (Warren Bank Interchange) near Broughton.
Estimated travel time from the M56 to A55 J34 (Ewloe) is currently 40 minutes - with further congestion caused by a broken down vehicle which is towing a caravan shortly after 3pm and reports of two more broken down vehicles at 4pm.

Traffic officers en route .
There were reports earlier in the afternoon of a one-vehicle collision on the A55 after J34 (Ewloe) which closed lane one.
And earlier traffic reports also indicated that Liverpool Road was partially blocked due to a collision near Ewole Green Primary School. The collision occurred on the bend near the primary school. Traffic is said to be heavy in the area and on the Coast Road as motorists try to avoid the delays on the A55 and holiday traffic heading through the area.

North Wales Police is warning that the roads are currently very busy, as well as that was a "non-injury collision" on the A548 (Coast Road) at Oakenholt this morning.
The force is urging people to drive carefully.
Earlier congestion is believed to have been sparked by a HGV which broke down on the A55 at Buckley 11.45am, causing what Traffic Wales says are to be "severe delays".
