A HOMEMADE spear is the latest potentially deadly weapon to be seized in Flintshire.

Police discovered the makeshift weapon at an address in Connah's Quay yesterday (Monday, August 11).

The officers were executing a County Lines warrant.

The North Wales Police North Flintshire team tweeted: "We executed a county lines warrant in the Quay and recovered this makeshift weapon from an address.

"It’s not just class A drugs [that] cross our borders.

"We’re committed to tackling all the associated violence - please report concerns to us on 101."

It comes just days after a large machete was recovered by police in Flintshire.

On Saturday, The North Wales and Cheshire Alliance Armed Policing Unit said they had been called to assist Flintshire South officers and posted a photograph of the seized machete.

The AAP tweeted: "If you carry an item like this around expect to be arrested and out before court."

County lines activity and the associated violence, drug dealing and exploitation has a devastating impact on the young and vulnerable in our communities.

It is the police term for urban gangs supplying drugs to suburban areas and market and coastal towns using dedicated mobile phone lines or “deal lines”.

Gangs establish a base in the market location, typically by taking over the homes of local vulnerable adults by force or coercion in a practice referred to as ‘cuckooing’.
