A COSTA Coffee shop in Flintshire won't be reopening its doors.

Costa Coffee Buckley announced the news on social media on Friday morning that it is closing down on a permanent basis.

In a statement, the Buckley shopping precinct-based shop, which opened in 2016, admitted there is "deep sadness" amongst it staff over the decision by the Costa Coffee chain to close the store.

It said: "Since day one our staff provided the most personal and exceptional customer service and successfully built meaningful relationships with customers.

"Our customers became our second family and most importantly our friends too; the people we could chat to about anything. We were an outlet and a safe haven for our customers to be able to vent to or simply have a good old natter with even it if meant you being late for work (apologies).

"We built up relationships with local businesses and even the local schools. To each and every single one of you that has supported us or come to perform in our store I sincerely thank you for helping Costa Buckley become so community involved.

"We understand that many of you will be extremely upset, angry and confused about our closure and we’re sorry that as a team we are unable to do anything to help keep us open, it’s simply the choice of our franchise bosses.

"They assured us that the decision was made through no reflection of our staff and overall team effort."

Costa Coffee Buckley had become a key pillar of the local community, being a place where police held weekly meetings with residents and having organised events like Easter treasure hunts.

It also set up a group for local mums to meet new people and make new friends.

The Costa Coffee chain has been approached for comment.
