KINMEL Bay’s intent to promote youth football in the community has been evident once again with their participation in a scheme organised by UEFA.

The club have been part of the governing body’s Grassroots Week, which runs from September 23-30 and is a celebration that invites its member associations to promote, facilitate, encourage and host activities to inspire all forms of football.

UEFA’s scheme is run in conjunction with the European Week of Sport and in cooperation with the European Commission. Concerned about the state of children’s football, they convened a special working group to tackle the problem in 1992.

As a result, a document was created that placed the onus of youth development at grassroots level firmly at the door of member associations.

This year the Football Association of Wales showcased the impact that their Gold and Platinum Accredited Clubs are having within their local communities.

Kinmel Ba were selected as one of the prime examples thanks to their exceptional work to being done from youth level all the way through to their first team, which represents a clear player pathway for aspiring stars to aspire to.

They recently completed work on the MUGA surface at Y Morfa Leisure Centre, which has become their base for all coaching sessions permitted under the FAW’s coronavirus pandemic guidelines.

This was awarded platinum status and coaches boys and girls of all ages, in addition to their men’s and women’s sides throughout the campaign.
