THREE mainstays behind the scenes at Prestatyn Town have stepped down from their respective roles.

The JD Cymru North champions are heading into a new era under chairman Jamie Welsh, who has outlined his ambitions to get the Seasiders’ back to the top-flight after they were denied a JD Cymru Premier berth after failing to obtain their Tier 1 Domestic Licence despite finishing 16 points ahead of Flint Town United in the standings.

There have been major changes at the club this summer despite Neil Gibson keeping the large majority of his title-winning squad together, with Martin Jones, Tony O’Reilly and Leigh Williams all confirming their respective departures from the set-up.

This comes following Leon Field’s decision to step away from his role as joint-general manager to spend more time with his family.

Williams returned to the fold as CEO shortly after Welsh purchased the club from the previous owner Neal Colakoglu, who recently took over as chairman of Holywell Town, but he has now decided to walk away.

O’Reilly is another that has been with the club for a considerable period, holding various roles including media officer and gave up countless hours on a volunteer basis.

Another who will be missed by everyone associated with the club is Jones, who became a popular figure during his time at the helm and was a trusted member of Gibson’s backroom team throughout some phenomenal successes that included promotion and a first-ever Welsh Cup victory over Bangor City.

He said: “After a number of years on the admin side of things at Prestatyn Town, I’ve made the very difficult decision to step down.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved for all the help I’ve received over the years & wish everyone at the club all the best.”

Prestatyn also announced a new football in the community initiative that is looking to offer support and guidance to those who are suffering with mental health issues during the coronavirus pandemic, with many missing interaction with fellow supporters on match day.
