A RESIDENT has lost thousands of pounds after falling victim to a scam.
The resident in Cyffylliog, Ruthin, was scammed out of £4,800 after receiving a call from someone claiming to be fraud investigators for HSBC.
North Wales Police Community Safety Central took to Twitter on October 6 to say: "They have convinced the resident to give bank details claiming they needed to move money to a different account."
North Wales Police have advice on their website to help people reduce their risk of becoming a victim of fraud.
Steps include:
Never sending or giving money to anyone you don’t know or trust.
Being suspicious of ‘too good to be true’ offers and deals
Getting independent/legal advice if an offer involves money, time or commitment
Checking websites, that may not appear genuine, at scamadviser.com
