IN HONOUR of Recycle week, Plastic Free Ruthin, in conjunction with Surfers against Sewage, was proud to award six Ruthin businesses Plastic Free Business Awards recently.
County Councillor Emrys Wynne who heads up Denbighshire County Council’s plastic reduction schemes, presented the awards to Aydins Traditional Fish and Chips (below), ManorHaus Ruthin, Marina’s Italian Cookery, Naturally Ethical, Ruthin Wholefoods and The Bakehouse.
Cllr Wynne congratulated the six businesses on achieving the SAS Plastic Free Award.
He said: “They are making a practical contribution to making Ruthin and Denbighshire free of single use plastics. During the trying times that all communities are facing now, we must not take our eyes off the ball with environmental issues such as excessive and unnecessary use of single use plastics when there are alternatives available.
“I encourage everybody to make their own contributions to help reduce the use of single use plastics.”
Plastic Free Ruthin say they would also like to congratulate and thank all the businesses who have successfully reduced their plastic use and invites more local businesses to take part in the scheme in future.
