THE Denbighshire Liverpool Football Club Supporters Club has raised £1120 for local food banks in the county recently.

The substantial sum, collected over a period of just one week, has come through donations made by club members.

Money donated has come mainly through cash saved by supporters who have boycotted the Pay-Per-View matches put on by Sky Sports and BT Sport recently.

During October, matches not initially selected for regular TV broadcast have been made available on a pay-per-view basis accessed via Sky Sports' and BT Sport's existing Box Office platforms at £14.95 each.

The Premier League announced the decision following Government-imposed restrictions on supporters attending matches, which mean all games currently take place behind closed doors.

But, many supporters, such as the Denbighshire Liverpool Supporters Club, have refused to pay such money and are instead putting the cash to good use in another way.

Rhodri Jones, who runs the supporters club said: "Over the last week we have been raising money, mainly from boycott of PPV games for local food banks. The total raised was £1120.

"The lads that organise six away coaches that go to every game got together to organise it. We have around 15 lads that never miss a game home or away and in Europe".

The Denbighshire Liverpool Supporters Club was set up in 2001 and currently has more than 200 members.
