IT IS HOPED redundant disused buildings can be transformed into holiday accommodation in Llangollen.

Applicant Portia Kenaway has submitted proposals to Denbighshire County Council to change an existing store to two holiday units with car parking on at Tower Farm on Tower Road.

A Design and Access statement into proposals states: "The farm has diversified into camping and caravanning and is very successful. The site is very much needed during the musical festivals and all other festivals that take place on the eisteddfod ground.

"The site is part of the Llangollen Tourism Accommodation.

"There are several redundant farm buildings on site a section of one is very poor and requires demolition to that section. The other additions are redundant and would enhance the site by their removal.

"The development will not involve extensions but will keep within the present building footprints.

"The character and appearance will not be adversely affected as they retain the original features where possible.

"The site is situated 100m from the car park to the Eisteddfod field parking. The access road has been up graded by the highways to cater for Eisteddfod visitors. The site is within easy safe walking distance along the tow path to the town.

"The site at present is a controlled site and will remain controlled. Users are reminded that there is a very low speed limit. Access to the site is wide enough to take two vehicles passing and visibility is good.

"The proposals are in line with tourism practices for farms and rural communities. There is no visual impact on the surround area and the natural screening will be maintained.

"This project keeps the retains buildings within the farm yard and so maintains the rural buildings in the country side."
