WREXHAM Council is urging residents to shop local during the build up to Christmas.

With late-night shop commencing on Thursday (December 3) and free parking available in all of their town centre operated car parks, except for Tŷ Pawb, where normal parking charges still apply, the council hopes that these initiatives will increase footfall in the area.

Cllr Terry Evans, Wrexham Council’s lead member for the economy, said: “We all know it’s been an incredibly tough year, and by buying local, you can help support the shops that are part of the heart and soul of our town centre.

“So please take advantage of the late-night shopping and activities, and the free parking in council car parks (after 11am).

“Your support could make a huge difference to local businesses.

“It’s also important to stay safe when you come into town, so please remember to stick to social distancing and wear a face-mask when required.

“Let’s shop local, stay safe and look forward to Christmas with hope and optimism.”

Late-night shopping will take place every Thursday until the week before Christmas, between 5pm until 8pm, which will see a number of shops opening later for members of the public to do their Christmas shopping.

It is hoped that the later opening hours will give shoppers more time to visit and support local businesses.
