As well as a little dip into the Leader archives, reader photos lead the way for a trip down memory lane today.

Reader Steve Sumnal sent in a photo featuring a rugby legend. He said: "Jonah Lomu New Zealand rugby player was invited to play for a Wrexham Rugby XV in November 1995, Granada TV reported it. His manager Phil Kingsley-Jones (recently passed in September 2020) was head coach at Wrexham RUFC. Here he is offering photos with a local school, The Groves. I'm front row first from left."

David Williams posted a wonderful photo on the Connah’s Quay Info & Memories With Friends Facebook group.

He said: “I'm posting a wedding photo from 1908 of my grandparents John and Louise Armor, along with his parents and his brother and sisters.

"In the 1901 Census my grandfather and his father are down as agricultural labourers and his brother as a joiner. The ladies all look nicely dressed for the occasion.

"Years later my grandparents moved to Keepers Cottage also known as the Iron House in Kelsterton Lane, where my grandfather worked as a gamekeeper for the Charltons at Plas Bellin.”

And with crowds and busy social events now seeming a distant memory, it makes the photo - shared by the Buckley Society on Twitter - of the Buckley Jubilee in 1942, all the more amazing.
