IT was fourth time lucky for bride and groom Hollie and Daniel Harket-Burgess who, after several rearrangements, finally managed to tie the knot just two days before the UK was plunged into its second national lockdown.

The Southampton couple took the plunge at Rookesbury Park in Wickham on Tuesday November 3.

Newlywed Hollie told the Daily Echo: "We had started planning the wedding in January 2019 and originally planned to get married on September 5th 2020.

"When Covid had taken hold and we were in lockdown in April we decided to postpone the September 5th date to March 13th 2021. Then in September when Boris announced that social distancing restrictions would still be in place for another six months we made the decision to bring the wedding forward to November 6th 2020.

"Then Boris & Covid struck again and on Halloween gave us the biggest fright by putting the country into a second lockdown banning weddings from the 5th November (the day before our planned wedding!).

"Thankfully our venue and the registrar were amazing and on Sunday 1st November we managed to reschedule the wedding to the 3rd of November! Within 48 hrs we were married!"

Here Hollie tells us more about their big day.

Q) How and where did you get engaged?

A) At home on New Year’s Eve 2018. Just the two of us.

Q) Who made up your bridal party?

A) My mum, dad, sister (Maid of Honour) and my best friend Emma (Bridesmaid)

Q) How many guests attended the wedding?

A) 13

Q) What are your best memories of the day?

A) My mum and sister arranged a musician to play an acoustic version of our first dance (Kodaline -The One) as a surprise. I’d managed to hold it together until that point but when I realised he was playing our song it set me off crying!

The day was so relaxed and we were able to enjoy speaking to all our guests. We played Mr & Mrs with the guests working in their households as teams to guess the answers.

Then at the end of the evening we did a sparkler send off and had a firework display organised by the venue with a local supplier. It was an amazing way to end our wedding day.

Q) What was the most stressful part of organising your wedding?

A) The constant uncertainty about if it was going to happen and the government changing rules around numbers and lockdown.

Q) Do you have anything else you'd like to add?

A) Well done to all the 2020 brides and grooms!
