COVID may have meant only 15 of their nearest and dearest could join them for their big day, but it didn't stop Erin and Pete Burch having the most amazing day of their lives.

During their intimate wedding ceremony, which took place at Blacknest Golf and Country Club near Alton, they almost forgot about the pandemic altogether and were able to celebrate with their immediate family and closest friends by their sides as they said their vows outside in the stunning autumn sunshine.

The couple, from Romsey, did have the heartbreaking task of cutting dozens of loved ones from their original guest list due to changing coronavirus restrictions, while others couldn't attend due to shielding. But everyone wished them well and watched the scaled down ceremony from the safety of their homes via Zoom instead.

Everyone agreed it was a magical wedding day.

The newlyweds were just delighted to have tied the knot despite a stressful build up to their big day.

Here Erin tells us more.

Q) How and where did you get engaged?

A) We got engaged in June 2019 in Bergerac France after two years of being together.

Q) Did Covid have any impact on your wedding plans?

A) We were meant to be married on 23rd May 2020 and had to postpone until 10th October 2020. We had 52 people to start with which went down to 30 and then two weeks before it went down again to 15 due to further Covid restrictions.

We had certain people, for example grandparents, who were not able to attend as they were shielding.

Q) Who made up your bridal party?

A) My sister Rosie was Maid of Honour, My mum Jo and bridesmaids Roxy, Emily, Emma and Laura.

Q) What are your best memories of the day?

A) We had the most amazing day, so intimate and special. The sun came out for us all day which meant we were able to get married outside which is what we wanted more than anything. To have our closest friends and family there with us and to have a day where we almost forgot Covid existed as we were all so happy celebrating was great!

Q) What was the most stressful part of organising your wedding?

A) Having to tell our loved ones they were not able to be there on the day was heartbreaking. They were all so understanding which made it a little easier and they all watched on Zoom!

Q) Do you have anything else you’d like to add?

A) We were so grateful to everyone who gave us so much love and support this year and helped us get to our big day! It really was a magical day.
