NORTH WALES residents are being given the opportunity to vote for the local projects in their community they think deserves a lump sum of cash seized from criminals.

North Wales Police's 'Your Community, Your Choice' scheme will see a £60,000 fund shared amongst projects throughout North Wales - from Anglesey to Wrexham.

Up for grabs are three grants of up to £2,500 for groups in each of the six counties of North Wales and three grants of up to £5,000 for organisations working in three or more counties.

This is the eighth year of the scheme which is organised by the police and crime commissioner in conjunction with North Wales Police and the North Wales Police and Community Trust (PACT).

This year's entrants for Denbighshire Clwyd Amateur Boxing Club, Denbigh In Bloom and Llanferres Playing Field and Recreation Association (LPFRA).

The boxing clubs is appealing so it can continue to help people of all gender, race and age turn their anger and frustration in to something positive.

They coach up to eight different classes a week and are a self-funded organisation who usually rely on organising two or three Amatuer boxing shows per year to help fund the running costs of the club.

Denbigh in Bloom is a volunteer community group established in January 2016 with only a handful of members.

Their aim is to create a safe and cared for community for everyone who lives, works, shops and visits Denbigh.

Together with volunteers from both Bowling and Tennis clubs, Denbigh in Bloom began to regenerate the Park in Summer 2020 and funding would enable them to extend their work in Lower Park.

The LPFRA is a volunteer-run charity that has, for 22 years, been managing, maintaining and fundraising to support the village and surrounding area.

Their funding request is to contribute to costs for the development works and maintenance and upkeep of the park and playground which is a valuable community resource.
