HEAVY rain is expected to cause much disruption across parts of North Wales.

The Met Office has issued a warning for heavy rain, covering a large area of North Wales which is due to end at 6pm on Wednesday.

It comes after previous warnings of strong winds of up to 70mph.

Three areas in North Wales were hit by power cuts and flood alerts are also in place.

The flood warnings include the Lower Dee Valley from Llangollen to Trevalyn Meadows.

The Met Office states: "Rain will become heavy and persistent leading to a risk of disruption."

What to expect

  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer, with bus and train services probably affected
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Today: A murky day for all, with a band of rain, heavy at times, lingering over western areas through the day. Eastern areas remaining largely dry. Winds will be lighter and easing throughout but remaining brisk in the south. Feeling mild. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
  • Tonight: A wet evening, as the band of rain moves eastwards across the country. Rain will be heaviest over western areas and ease going overnight, leaving clear spells. Winds easing further. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
