An abusive customer had demanded methadone and refused to leave a Llangollen pharmacy before he smashed a bottle of cough mixture against a wall, a court heard.

Paul Taylor, 33, of Bridge Street, Llangollen, who had a heroin problem, had been “rattling” and there was a dispute between him and the staff, his solicitor Andrew Hutchinson said at Llandudno Court on Wednesday.

Taylor admitted threatening behaviour and criminal damage at Rowlands Pharmacy on Monday, and criminal damage in a police vehicle by smearing blood and spitting.

Prosecutor Nicola Williams said there were 87 offences on Taylor’s record. The probation service said he was no longer welcome at the hotel where he was living, and he was “unmanageable” in the community.

District judge Gwyn Jones jailed him for 12 weeks.

A three-year restraining order bans him from Rowlands pharmacies.

Judge Jones said Taylor had been offensive. “No member of the pharmacy staff should have to put up with this behaviour,” the judge remarked.
