PARENTS in Denbighshire are being reminded of guidance as foundation phase pupils return to school.

Pupils aged between three and seven returned to face-to-face learning on Wednesday, February 24.

Rules on social distancing and the use of face coverings are in place, while pupils must stay at home if they feel unwell until they receive a Covid-19 test.

Any pupil who tests positive for coronavirus must self-isolate according to Welsh Government guidelines.

Cllr Huw Hilditch-Roberts, Denbighshire County Council cabinet member for education, children's services and public engagement, said: “We are pleased that schools have been able to re-open for foundation phase pupils and it is vital parents and carers follow the rules and guidelines to stop the spread of coronavirus in schools and reduce disruption to learners.

“This includes children not meeting up outside of school, even when children are in the same school bubble.

“Parents and carers need to wear face coverings when picking up and dropping off their children at the school gates and are reminded not to catch up with other parents and to maintain social distancing rules.

“Children must also be kept off school if they are unwell, even if you are not sure if it is coronavirus, and you should book a coronavirus test if your child develops any of the symptoms, even if they are mild.

“When children are asked to self-isolate it is vital to stay at home, not to go outdoors to exercise, or to other public spaces and please do not invite people to your house.

“It has been a very difficult period for pupils, staff and parents and it is important everyone follows these guidelines to protect our communities and to keep schools open.”
