DATA revealing which parts of Denbighshire have suffered the highest numbers of deaths during the coronavirus pandemic has been published.

The interactive map, published by the Office for National Statistics, allows people to see how many people have died where Covid-19 was the main underlying cause on their death certificate in every part of Denbighshire – and the UK as a whole.

The data reveals that area with the highest number of Covid-linked deaths within Denbighshire are Rhyl and Prestatyn - with both towns each having had 44 deaths linked directly to Covid.

However, Prestatyn has had considerably more deaths per capita (population) - having a population size roughly 10,000 less than Rhyl.

The area with by far the highest death rate per capita is Llangollen - which has had 31 deaths despite its population being less than 4,000.

However, as local data is only available up to January, the numbers of deaths in the map will not reflect the latest trends.
